FAQ

How can I save money and cut my energy use?
To reduce the amount and cost of the energy you use:

  • bulletSchedule maintenance of your heating and cooling systems at least once before the season starts.
  • bulletReplace or install heating or air conditioning equipment with newer, more efficient units. If your system is 10 or more years old, it’s time to consider replacing it. New units are up to 38 percent more efficient! Select Energy Star equipment for higher efficiency and long-term savings.
  • bulletHave ductwork inspected to check the quality of it. Make sure it’s adequate for your needs, is installed properly, and is not leaking—wasting energy and costing you money.
  • bulletTake advantage of available rebates and special offers for heating and cooling equipment and ductwork sealing from the manufacturer and from PG&E (www.pge.com) as well as any tax credits that apply for Energy Star qualified products at www.energystar.gov.
  • bulletConsider adding a Clean Air filtration system that uses the latest technology to purify the air of allergens and bacteria. These systems are proven to eliminate up to 99.98 percent of allergens—alleviating or reducing respiratory and medical conditions, and allowing you to breathe easier.
  • bulletPurchase Block-Out Screens that reduce exposure from the hot Western sun. They’re sold under many brand names.
