What’s Included in a Summer AC Maintenance Visit?
As the heat of summer increases, the cool air your air conditioner in Danville, CA, pumps out is a relief. To get the most from your AC system this summer, you’ll want to schedule your annual summer air conditioning maintenance. Read on to discover what’s included in a summer AC maintenance visit.
Clean Your AC System
One of the best things your service technician does to keep your AC system operating well is to do a deep cleaning. As the AC system runs, small airborne contaminants flow through the filter and settle further into it. When left to collect, these contaminants create an airflow restriction, leading to increased energy consumption and AC repairs.
The evaporator coil and circulating fan are the most impactful areas the contaminants collect. Your service technician will clean both of these plus the outside condensing coil during your AC maintenance.
Tighten Electrical Connections
One of the challenges your air conditioner faces is the vibration from the components running. This will eventually loosen mounting hardware for the compressor, circulating fan motor and condensing fan blades.
Additionally, the vibration affects the electrical connections throughout the system, increasing electrical resistance. Your service technicians will check all these connections and mounting hardware and tighten anything that has loosened.
Balance Circulating Fan
The circulating fan is a wheel that spins on a spindle connected to the circulating fan motor. The spindle puts excessive strain on the motor when the wheel is off-balance, causing it to burn out prematurely. Your service technician will check and balance the fan wheel as needed.
Test System Operation and Components
Finally, your service technician will also test the entire system. They will test some components individually. However, they’ll also run a cooling cycle, making sure it initializes and produces cooler air at your vents.
Make sure your air conditioner is ready to stand up to the California summer. Call to schedule your summer AC maintenance visit with one of the award-winning service technicians at Contra Costa Climate Control.
